I will probably get some “oh, no he didn’t'’s from my next statement, but I’m just not feeling the madras and seersucker this Spring. It may be that I have too much of it in my closet already, but it just doesn’t seem bold enough for me right now. Which is where these two items come in. My gut tells me this could be something I will regret seeing myself in some day, but I really can’t help liking both these navy and white printed BD shirts from WWM and Epaulet.
And this is coming from a guy who doesn’t have one short sleeve button shirt in his closet. I just don’t see the sense in buying or wearing a shirt in a traditional print with short sleeves. I tend to just roll up my sleeves if I’m hot. But with a Hawaiian or tropical print that logic no longer stands. It’s the only way to make or wear one. And these are made that much better by adding buttondown collars. I think this is a perfect shirt for some weekend outdoor fun sipping cold drinks in the shade.

This is NOT New wrote about Woolrich Woolen Mills’ Mountain Pant months ago and I sat on posting this out of pure selfishness as I decided whether or not purchase them for myself. I know many people are really feeling the cargo pant again, but I think this is a much better alternative. It gives you the same rugged details without all the bulk. It has button down front flap pockets and a slight tapered leg with button tab detailing at the hem. It also comes in a great navy.

How much is too much? No really, I need to know because I have a few pieces of each already yet I still want to by everything else in sight.
Particularly Woolrich Woolen Mills’ Hombre Moutain Vest, which I would have such a hard time taking off I might end up wearing it to bed.

I’m not sure I’d wear these Ralph Lauren Nansen Buffalo Plaid Boots, but I still love them all the same. From a style and investment perspective the oilcloth canvas shaft version is a much safer bet.

And if Woolrich gets any hotter it will burn out soon, because it is everywhere (more on that in a future post). The official Converse x Woolrich Chuck Taylor collabo is likely one of the shoe’s coolest iterations ever, particularly in the red.
I could keep going, but I think you get the point. Go ahead and buy that buffalo plaid, just make sure it’s special because when your little sis buys that buffalo plaid printed shirt with the skull graphic from Delia’s your going to want to make sure you don’t look foolish standing next to her.

Get you wallets ready, the Woolrich Woolen Mills Fall/Winter 2009 collection will be hitting stores in the next month. We all saw the looks put together during Men’s Market earlier in the year and WWM has updated their site with more images of the collection on actual live people. The rich red and blood orange tones are perfect for the season as well as the varying charcoal grey tones. There is also a great mix of textures throughout the collection that really brings the looks to life. I think the Wing + Horns collection could have really used some of this thoughtfulness, which would have put it in that upper echeelon of labels.

These have blogged about just about everywhere, but I didn’t want to let that stop me from talking about them here. I personally own a lot of Engineered Garments, so it didn’t take much for me to fall in love with Woolrich Woolen Mills over the last few season. But I have now begun to like WWM much better than EG. I’m not always in the mood to wear the relaxed cuts of EG and WWD is just a bit more tailored. So I think I have officially converted. The Fall/Winter ‘09 collection looks great. I’m really loving the rich red and charcoal grey combinations most. I will definitely be looking out for a few of these pieces come Autumn. Rather post all the looks I’ve posted what I think are the winners of the looks released so far.
